Description

The Smith & Wesson M&P revolver was provided as part of the US Lend Lease program early in the war when hand guns were in short supply with the British & Commonwealth Forces was designated the ‘Victory’ revolver.

All had the prefix of V on the serial numbers & around 780,000 were made in all variations. This example is a rare Australian Army issue, as seen on the frame by the Australian Broad Arrow markings (see photos). Australian & other Commonwealth issued Victory’s were  issued in .38/200, otherwise known as .38 S&W & have the 5” barrel opposed to the 4” in .38 SPL issued to US forces. It is in original condition with all matching serial numbers on frame, barrel, cylinder & butt, the grips are not marked. It is clearly marked with S&W proof marks & ‘Made in USA’  is clearly legible.

It has the original plain wood grips, a 4-inch barrel, a six shot cylinder, a case hardened hammer, a case hardened trigger & retains the lanyard loop. It is in very good original unrestored condition as seen in the photos.

The bore is in mirror bright condition & the timing & lock up are excellent. A very interesting & different piece. A unique opportunity to own S&W Victory model with an Australian history for your collection.

Please view all of the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all others.
