Description
Mint, matching Black Widow with correct Hardshell holster!
Recently obtained from a significant collection is this desirable & highly collectable wartime variant is often called the ‘Black Widow’ in some collector circles.
These 1941/1942 manufactured pistols were the last of the P.08 Lugers made as the P.38 was in full production by then & were called the Black Widow by post war collectors because of the black Bakelite grips giving it an all black finish whereas P.08 Lugers of previous generations were issued with the wood grips.
Interestingly, the slide & side plate have changed colour, most likely due to a difference in the finishing process & aging, making this an extremely unique piece of military history some lucky collector will own!
With all visible numbers matching it comes with the correct ‘fxo 37’ marked magazine which is the correct code for Haenel, the sub-contractor which made magazines for the last of the Mauser P.08’s.
This pistol comes with the original black Hardshell holster which is in excellent condition & comes with the takedown tool (worth around $300 on its own) & correctly marked bml/42, with a waffenamt code of WaA23, both assigned to the firm of Hans Romer of Neu-Ulm in 1942.
These holsters are known to be correct for this pistol, so you have the full, correct rig for a Black Widow!
We are offering this pistol as a collectable piece of military history & acknowledge the grievous atrocities committed by the Nazi regime & some of its military, particularly toward the peoples of occupied territory & the Jewish population in Europe. In no way do we condone or glorify the Nazi regime which must be remembered for the vile stain on human history that it was.
We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do.
Make your decision based on the photos as they form the main description.
Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
We have a pretty unique refund policy on our collectable guns whereby we will refund your money if it is not as described when you receive it. Just let us know before you decide to send it back.
Standard cost for shipping is $55 & all guns are sent via Startrack without insurance but we pack very well.
