Description

Mint, matching with MUM!

Recently imported from the US & offered for sale is this Imperial Japanese Arisaka Type 99 chambered in 7.7mm with matching numbers & the MUM still intact although it has been struck lightly, as can be seen in the photos.

Yes, your luck can be this good that we have another all matching Type 99 with MUM but you’ll need to be quick!

This was made by the Kokura Arsenal near Tokyo as part of the 23rd Series & sports all visible matching numbers on the bolt, bayonet lug & receiver which were pretty much the usual places.

This matching numbered rifle has all the hallmarks of being a war trophy, having been taken home after the war by a US GI. All mass surrendered Japanese rifles had the Emperor’s  Chrysanthemum (MUM) ground thoroughly. The MUM on this rifle remains intact which usually indicates a battlefield captured rifle although there are two lines grooved into the MUM which appear to have been done in an amatuer way (bayonet perhaps?) so likely done in the field by the soldier or Marine who captured it so he could keep it at the time of the Japanese surrender.

It presents in absolutely outstanding overall condition as can be seen in the photos, plus it retains the original cleaning rod.

Bore is excellent, shiny with clear visible rifling so definitely a shooter & we have ammunition at the shop if collected.

To find a matching numbered Type 99 is highly unusual, let alone one in this magnificent condition.

This is one for the serious collector & these don’t come along often so don’t let this get away!

Make your decision based on what you see, so please view the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all written information so ask for more if desired.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & these are sold on an as is basis.

As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
