Description

As issued to USN & US Marine Pilots in the Pacific

The Smith & Wesson M&P revolver was provided as part of the US Lend Lease program early in the war when hand guns were in short supply with the British & was designated the ‘Victory’ revolver. All had the prefix of V on the serial numbers & around 780,000 were made in all variations. These were made in .38 S&W (otherwise known as .38/200 for British & Commonwealth forces) which usually had the 5” barrel & .38 SPL which usually had the 4” barrel.

Those in .38 SPL as this pistol is were almost always for US use & were most often issued to Marine & Navy aircrew.

This mint S&W Victory is a rare 4-digit serial number making it one of the first made in 1943. It is in original mint condition with all matching serial numbers on frame, barrel, cylinder & butt, the grips are not marked. It is clearly marked with S&W proof marks & ‘Made in USA’  is clearly legible.

It has the original early model plain wood grips, a 4-inch barrel, a six shot cylinder, a case hardened hammer, a case hardened trigger & retains the lanyard loop. It is in very good original unrestored 95% condition with minor holster wear.

The bore is in mirror bright condition & the timing / lock up are excellent. This is a very interesting & different piece. A unique opportunity to own S&W Victory model with a very early serial number for your collection.
