Description

The Magazine Lee Enfield Mk1 was a forerunner of the SHT LE & SMLE No. 1 Mk III.

The MLE Mk1& Mk1* were made between 1900-1909 & used in the Boer War in South Africa 1899-1902, with some still in use with rear echelon units during WW1.

The MLE & LE are colloquially called the Long Tom, which covers pretty much all of these prior to the SHT LE & don’t come to the market very often.

This collectable rifle is in very good condition as can be seen in the photos.

Being a Mk1*, this rifle has the safety & uncommonly, it retains the magazine cut off & both volley sights, front & rear.

It also has a WW2 era Lithgow barrel fitted which has very clearly visible strong rifling which would make this a very good option for service rifle comps.

This has been checked by the gunsmith who checked the headspace & confirmed it is capable of shooting modern factory ammunition.

The woodwork is in very good original condition & butt is marked with the BSA company roundel.

These don’t come along often in this condition & would make an excellent addition to your Enfield collection.
