Description

COLT No.2 DERRINGER, 41 Cal. Rimfire

This neat little gun was manufactured around 1880 but records were not kept according to numbers so this is just a guestimate. It is in reasonable condition & good for its age, with checkered walnut grips intact with no chips or cracks, 2.5″ barrel all of which appears to not have been refinished.

Action works fine with the knurled release latch on frame R.H. side & barrel pivots left for loading. Has steel frame with foliate engraving on either side, steel barrel with bladed front sight, knurling on hammer is course style & split by a central groove to act as a rear sight, light blueing on hammer & barrel remains but mostly a dark patina now.

Has the sheath trigger & wooden birds head grips. Stamped on barrel with two-line Colt address, COLT’s PT.F.A. MFG. CO./ HARTFORD CT. U.S.A./ No.2 & stamped under barrel is 7838 & on the metal on butt also 7838 so numbers do match.

This gun is pre-1900 so no license or PTA is needed to purchase.

Photos coming soon.
