Description

Offered for sale is this outstanding example of one of an early 1911 (not 1911A1) which falls in the serial number range known as part of the US Government’s contract with Colt for 1911’s in WW1.

Those who know their 1911’s will see this sports the Parkerized finish which we believe was applied at Rock Island Arsenal (RIA), most likely in 1942 not long after the US entered WW2.

Whilst this is based on our knowledge & is supported by the RIA FK stamps on the left hand side of the frame.

These indicate it was refurbished by RIA & the FK refers to Frank Krack who was the US Inspector at RIA from 1941-1946.

In the hand, it is easily identifiable as having been done by a US arsenal, as it has that almost light green tinge to the dull grey Parkerized finish, separating it from commercial jobs plus of course it sports the Flaming Bomb cartouche.

We also believe the barrel was changed out at RIA as it is not the original barrel, which is not a bad thing.

It retains the ‘Double Diamond’ wood grips which are likely the original grips based on their level of wear but are in good condition with no cracks or splits however have a good look as there are small marks of course.

We’ve priced this accordingly so if you’ve been wanting an affordable, shooter grade 1911 that isn’t mint but is excellent with US Military history from WW2 & perhaps Korea & possibly even Vietnam, this may be your gun!

We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do.

Make your decision based on the photos, as these form the main description & override all other.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.

We have a pretty unique refund policy on our collectable guns whereby we will refund your money if it is not in the condition described when you receive it. Just let us know before if you decide to send it back.

Standard shipping is $77 for all for metro shipping bar WA, otherwise call for a cost to your dealer.
