Description
This Type 14 Nambu was made in the 2nd run by the Nagoya Arsenal, Kokubunji factory as indicated by the characters on the slide in January 1943, (the mark of 18.1 on the slide shows this). As you can see from the photos the finish on this is genuine but excellent for a 75 year old service pistol (better than most), with no visible rust or pitting & it as all collectors know, condition is everything. The post 1939, 17 notch mahogany grips are original, mostly unmarked & we believe numbered to the gun. Usually the left grip is gouged & the left side of the slide is marked due to the movement of the safety but check the pictures, this does not have this mark, indicating it was likely to have been captured quite early in the fighting. This also comes with the original ‘Clamshell’ holster including original disassembly / cleaning tool. The stitching has come apart at the hinge of the holster but it is original & marked with Japanese Kanji on the inside of the cover & has the shoulder strap intact, plus it has an ownership tag attached but this is pretty much illegible. A Type 14 Nambu is a must have for any serious WW2 collector & whoever buys this will not be disappointed.
