Description

Offered for sale here is a nice rifle with an Australian history which is easily determined thanks to the markings on the barrel.

This rifle was made in 1896 & came originally with a hex barrel which has since been replaced, most likely in the 50’s or 60’s.

The replacement barrel is of original Winchester manufacture & was imported to Australia by Perry Brothers, in Brisbane.

We know this as it has the Hornet stamp next to ‘THE STINGER’ on the barrel, right next to the usual Winchester stamps as can be seen in the photos.

The configuration is correct & wood is original but we believe the rifle was reblued around the time of the new barrel as this condition is just too good to be the original. We may be wrong, it is possible it has just been well maintained for a 125 year old rifle but not likely.

We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be Winchester experts so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do.

Do your own research & you will know if this is for you. Please view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
