Description

The Webley break top Mk IV revolver was the mainstay of the Commonwealth armed forces in the lead up to & during WW2, along with the Enfield No.1 Mk 2 (which was a direct copy of the Webley). During the war the Webley was stamped ‘War Finish’ due to the lower standard of finish accepted for the need to just get them into the hands of service personnel which presumably was enough for the company to stamp a disclaimer that this was not their usual standard. War finish Webley revolvers are a collectable in their own right.

Records show that the serial number range A1-A14999 were made from 1946-1949. Being S/N A279, it is safe to believe that this was among the very first to be made post war in 1946, making it a desirable & collectable gun. It bears the W&S ‘Winged Bullet’ logo & Webley & Scott on the barrel which the wartime guns did not have. As can be seen by the photos, the finish is far superior to that of war production revolvers which probably accounts for the excellent condition it is still in today.

The barrel is club legal if you want a authentic gun for service pistol comps.
