Rare WW2 Soviet Revolver Trainer in ‘4mm Reducta’ calibre!

Offered for sale to the specialist collector of WW2 trainers is this rare & highly collectable trainer version of the Soviet Nagant Model 1895 revolver.

Usually chambered in 7.62mm Nagant, this example is one of a relatively small number of surviving revolvers which has been converted to ‘4mm Zimmerstutzen’ for training purposes.

Very little information is available on these other than to confirm this was a popular conversion designed for indoor gallery shooting beginning in the 1930’s, especially in Germany where it originated. This quickly caught on throughout Europe including the realms of the freedom loving USSR where it was used for training peasant recruits in the Red Army (or perhaps for NKVD trainees learning to shoot dissidents in the back of the head at their version of an indoor range that we would call a windowless cellar).

This hard to find example present as pristine original condition & clearly stored correctly, showing no sign of rust, pitting, refinishing or restoration.

Manufactured originally as a standard Model 1895 in 7.62mm Nagant during 1944 it has been refurbed at an arsenal or depot (likely post war) to incorporate the changes needed for the conversion. These can easily be seen in the photos & pretty much comprise of sleeves for the barrel & cylinder to allow for loading & shooting the 4mm Zimmerstutzen which is effectively a ‘flobert’ cartridge.

This was part of a recent import from Europe where this has been for the past 77 years before coming into Australia for some lucky collector to add to their collection of military trainers.

This may well be the only example in the country so if you think this is for you, don’t hesitate.

We encourage you to do your own research & you will know if this is for you. Please view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired.

We are offering this revolver as a collectable piece of military history & cannot guarantee supply of 4mm ammunition.

We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.

We have a pretty unique refund policy on our collectable guns whereby we will refund your money if it is not as described when you receive it. Just let us know before you send it back.
