Description
Number 63 of just 100 made!
Offered for sale is this extremely rare & desirable Winchester 9422 XTR Captain Cook Commemorative rifle.
What started life as a high quality Winchester 9422M XTR chambered in .22 WMR was one of just 100 engraved on commission by Jeffrey Hunt to commemorate the Australian Bicentennial in 1988.
These are extremely rare & desirable rifles with an unknown number remaining in existence, some having been known to have been destroyed in the late 1990’s gun confiscations/destruction.
Captain Cook Commemorative rifles feature detailed scroll engraving to action, with ‘Captain Cook, Botany Bay, 30.4.1770’ to the left side of the action with a map of Australia Terra Australis on the right side & ‘Discovery 1 Capt. James Cook’ to the top of receiver along with some nice little bits scattered around the rifle.
This is definitely one for the Australian Winchester collector with just 100 made in the 80’s with many were exported to the US by American collectors over the years.
This is a gorgeous rifle & fantastic piece of Australian firearms history & you may not see another for a long time as collectors are just not letting them go out of their collections.
This is the first we have seen for sale in the flesh as these just don’t come along often.
We don’t expect this to last long so if you think it might be for you, don’t hesitate.
We are not going to try & rate the condition out of 100 as everyone seems to have a different opinion on what the percentages should be, so we’ll let the pictures be the description. You will know if this is for you so view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired.
We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional.
Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
Standard cost for shipping to metro locations is $75 & all guns are sent via StarTrack without insurance but packed very well.
