Description

Offered for sale is this very low serial numbered early war K98 made by one of the rarest manufactures. Feinmechanische Werke (Erma Werke) did not make a large number of rifles & this is one of the rare codes to locate. Erma stopped making rifles in 1941 to concentrate on MP40 machine pistols.  If you collect K98 rifles this is one of the hard ones to get & you should not pass it up.

Serial numbers were issued in batches of 10,000 with a letter suffix meaning this was made very early in 1940, in fact it looks like it was the 128th made that year!

It looks all correct including among the first of the laminate stocks with the correct flat butt plate, ‘H’ barrel bands, milled parts & rear sight with markings on the underside.

The top of the receiver ring is marked 27 over 1940, the right side is marked with three “eagle/280” Waffenamt proofs which was the code for Erma & the left side is marked with the Nazi firing proof (Nazi Eagle or ‘Reich Adler’), Mod. 98 in gothic script (as was common among earlier K98’s) & the very low serial number.

This is a fantastic example of an early war K98k rifle. It presents as all original & is in great condition as can be seen in the photos with the wood very good with minimal marks & it has most of the original blue still present.  The bore is excellent, so definitely a shooter.

Do your own research & make your decision based on what you see, so please view the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all written information so ask for more if desired.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & these are sold on an as is basis.

As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
