Wow, this is one for the collector of unique WW2 pistols for sure!

Part of a recent import direct from Germany is this very nice example of what started life as Smith & Wesson’s famous contribution to the Allied wartime supply of revolvers.

S&W modified their K frame Model 10 for military service by adding a lanyard ring & other martial additions & this became known as the ‘Victory’, for obvious morale purposes.

Many were produced in .38 S&W for Lend Lease but it was chambered in .38SPL for use by US troops.

This example struck us as being quite unusual & unique as it is clearly marked for issue to a German police service post war in Munich. We haven’t had much luck with discovering which Polizie unit this was so there is more for the new owner to discover!

Smith & Wesson revolvers in this calibre are known to have been issued to the various reconstituted German Police forces in Germany. In all probability this calibre was chosen to tightly control the ammunition allocated to the German & Austrian Police plus, there was a massive surplus of this ammo available. Similar pistols were issued by US Occupation Forces to the German Railway Police, Bavarian Rural Police, etc. All were property stamped on the pistol, generally on the left side of the frame as with this example but the back strap is also a known spot for the German Police forces markings.

The parkerised finish is completely original & the case hardened trigger & hammer still show nicely plus it retains all US wartime markings including ‘US Property’ stamped along the top side of the frame along with the S&W logo, both of which are clearly defined plus is all matching numbers. In addition, because it remained in Germany it sports post war German proofs along with Munich Polizei identification making this a desirable addition to any collection.

This may be your only chance to add a rare, unique & collectable handgun such as this to your collection. This interesting pistol could be classified as either a US or German weapon, as technically, it was both.
