Description

Offered for sale is this outstanding example of a hard to find Polish M44 which appears to be unfired since undergoing a factory refurbishment in Poland.

The Mosin Nagant Model 1944 Carbine was introduced in 1944, as may well be deduced.  Its specifications are very similar to the M1938, with the unique addition of a permanently affixed, side-folding cruciform-spike bayonet with a groove for the folded bayonet inlet into the right side of the stock.

These were also produced post war by the Communist Bloc countries Romania, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria & also under license in The Peoples Republic of China as the Type 53.

Markings show that this example was made in 1953 in Poland at the Radom plant. These versions were produced from 1949 to possibly as late as 1955. They are characterized by a high-quality finish & the marking of all parts with the “11” stamp.  Barrel shank is stamped “11” (code for Poland) “1953”.

It has “MO” stamp & the E in a diamond on the stock confirming that is is original & has been refurbed.  The folding bayonet is in good condition with strong snap & zero play.

The Polish carbines are generally acknowledged as being of a high build quality & are sought after by collectors worldwide.

As can be seen in the photos, appears to have been unfired since then & has part of an Australian collection where it has been in grease for the past 3 decades.

These are the more desirable of the M44 rifles so grab this for your collection & have one that is rarer than most.

Do your own research & you will know if this is for you. Please view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired.

We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
