Mint, matching with MUM!

Recently imported from the US & offered for sale is this Imperial Japanese Arisaka Type 99 chambered in 7.7mm with matching numbers & the MUM still intact!

Yes, your luck can be this good that we have another all matching Type 99 with MUM but you’ll need to be quick!

This was made by the Toyo Kogyo Arsenal in Fuchū, Hiroshima which was a commercial firm that was subcontracted out by Kokura arsenal. Available records indicate Tokyo Kogyo did not make a lot of Type 99 rifles (thought to be 60,000 only) & they only produced Series 27, 33 & 37 rifles as they worked on numerous other war material items & so their Type 99 rifles are considered desirable by knowledgeable collectors.

This matching numbered rifle is marked as being a rare Series 33 & has all the hallmarks of being a war trophy, having been taken home after the war by a US GI. The Emperor’s  Chrysanthemum (MUM) remains intact which usually indicates a battlefield captured rifle because all surrendered Japanese rifles had the MUM either ground, scrubbed or somehow defaced at the time of the Japanese surrender.

It presents in absolutely outstanding overall condition as can be seen in the photos, plus it retains the original cleaning rod & rubberised canvas sling. The sling has hardened over the years & is just there, not connected properly.

Bore is excellent, shiny with clear visible rifling so definitely a shooter & we have ammunition at the shop if collected.

To find a matching numbered Type 99 is highly unusual, let alone one from a low production factory with the MUM intact & in this magnificent condition.

This is one for the serious collector who knows what they want & don’t come along often so don’t let this get away!

Make your decision based on what you see, so please view the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all written information so ask for more if desired.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & these are sold on an as is basis.

As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
