Fully matching numbers & one of only 4% of total Kar98k’s made!

This very nice later war K98k was made in 1944 by Waffenwerke Brünn in Brno, one of Germany’s ‘conquest’ firearms manufactures in Czechoslovakia as can be seen by the ‘dot 1944′ markings  on the receiver ring.

All visible matching numbers include barrel, receiver, complete bolt, both barrel bands, floor plate & butt plate with the rear sight apparently not numbered. We have had the wood off & it is in great condition underneath, with no pitting or rust & the wood is numbered to this rifle.

On page 238 of ‘Backbone of the Wehrmacht’ by Richard D. Law the recorded production numbers show only 621,959 Kar98k’s were made in this year by Waffenwerke Brünn, meaning this rifle is one of less than 4.25% of total K98k production making this an extremely rare rifle, especially considering the attrition rate, both in combat & past war.

This is a very good example of a later war K98k rifle made around the time the Germans began to introduce changes to production techniques to save time, materials & money which resulted in what is known as the Kriegsmodell.

This has milled floorplate & barrel bands with the trigger guard being stamped which is correct for early 1944. It presents as all original as can be seen in the photos & unusually, retains the original front sight hood & cleaning rod. The wood is very good with minimal marks from wartime service & it retains a generous amount of the original blue still present as can be seen in the photos.

The bore is excellent, shiny with lots of rifling clearly visible, so definitely a shooter!

Do your own research & you will see that this great example of a hard to find matching Kar98k would make an excellent addition to any serious Mauser collection or a great start to one.

You will know if you want this so please view all photos carefully as they form the main description & override all written information.

These come along rarely so be the lucky one who adds this outstanding & rare Kar98k to their collection.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & these are sold on an as is basis.

As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
