Description

This extremely rare firearm is a must have for any serious collector of the unusual. After WW2 Japanese forces in the former Dutch East Indies were used in conjunction with some Allied forces (who were there to take the Japanese surrender) to restore order which effectively failed & in 1949 Indonesian independence was recognised after a bloody war. The new Indonesian military were equipped with various weapons confiscated from all & sundry, including British SMLE’s, Dutch East Indies military (KNIL) Mannlichers & Japanese Arisaka’s. To standardise the calibre, they converted all to .303 British as they had a massive surplus after the Allies left Indonesia upon independence & this Mannlicher Carbine is an excellent example of this. It started its life as a 1919 Mannlicher M95 chambered in 6.5×50 before being re-chambered into .303 & fitted with a muzzle brake. It is marked 7.7mm (.303) with the star of Indonesia on the receiver as can be seen in the photos.

This is a unique find & we have only ever seen one other for sale which was on a US auction site, so it is likely that this is the only one in Australia.

Do your research & you will be fascinated by this obscure rifle.

This is being sold on consignment on behalf of a collector so now you can add this to yours & be the envy of your fellow collectors.

Please view all of the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all others.
