Hard to find & fully matching!

This fully matching 1948 Ishapore No. 1 Mk III SMLE is one of the more interesting we have seen. Known most commonly as the ‘Wire Wrap’ these were Mk III SMLE’s which were reinforced with a large bolt & copper wire wrapped around which was then soldered at the Ishapore factory to launch rifle grenades using the cup attachment.

This one is original & genuine which has clearly seen service with the Indian Army, most likely in their ongoing border wars with Pakistan.

It is covered with the Indian RFI (Rifle Factory India) markings in all the right places as can be seen in the photos although this is the earlier GRI (George Rex India) version on the wrist.

Fully functional as a .303 calibre rifle this has numbers matching on all parts including nose cap, bolt, receiver, barrel & rear sights. This was imported from the US by the current owner specifically to add to his SMLE collection because none could be sourced in Australia.

This is a must have for the serious SMLE collection!

Do your own research & you will know if this is for you. Please view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired.

We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
