Description

Unique rifle for your collection!

Offered for sale is this highly collectable pre-war Kar98k manufactured in 1937 as indicated by the desirable S/42 stamped on the receiver ring which was the Nazi secret code for Mauser Werke AG, Oberndorf.

Out of over 12 Million Kar98k’s manufactured, only 256,312 are known to have been made in 1937 at Mauser Oberndorf, making this a very desirable rifle (as all pre-war K98ks’s are).

As can be seen in the photos, this is in excellent condition & has some very unique German writing somehow marked on the stock which we are yet to have translated.

Not unusually for a rifle which was carried for the whole of the war plus saw pre-war service, it does not boast all matching numbers with some being crossed out in the usual manner of a German field armourer & completely different from what the Russians did if it were an RC.

It does sport the correct flat butt plate stock although this is laminated, indicating that at some stage during the war it was replaced with a correct profile stock which by then was laminated, not walnut as issued in 1937.

This is a very good example of a pre-war Kar98k which was manufactured when all parts were milled & not stamped, when high quality was supremely important & everything has a Nazi Waffenamt stamped on it.

There is an unusual mark stamped on the receiver ring which we haven’t identified yet which could make this an even more desirable rifle!

We are offering this rifle as a collectable piece of military history & acknowledge the grievous atrocities committed by the Nazi regime & some of its military, particularly toward the peoples of occupied territory & the Jewish population in Europe. In no way do we condone or glorify the Nazi regime which must be remembered for the vile stain on human history that it was.

We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.

We have a pretty unique refund policy on our collectable guns whereby we will refund your money if it is not as described when you receive it. Just let us know before you send it back.
