Original condition with history!
Manufactured in 1935 & recently imported from the Fatherland is this early example of the famed Walther PPK in uniquely original & unrestored condition.
These early Nazi era PPK’s are highly sought after by collectors today, due to their historical significance & association with the most dangerous people in history plus the fact most were destroyed in the 12 or so years of Nazi rule & the devastation that it caused.
The 1935 era is significant because crazy Uncle Adolf & his weird friends had just come to power after causing havoc within the German political circles & now that the National Socialists were the ‘legitimate’ government, firearm ownership was effectively limited to Party members only.
“PPK” is an abbreviation for Polizeipistole Kriminal (literally “police pistol criminal”), referring to the Kriminalamt crime investigation office. While the K is often mistakenly assumed to stand for kurz (German for “short”), as the variant has a shorter barrel & frame, Walther used the name “Kriminal” in early advertising brochures.
The PPK was issued to Police Officers & many were sold to Nazi Party members through the RLM (Reichs- and Landes-Ministerial)-Produktionskontrolle (Reich and State Ministerial Production Control) department.
As you can see, it is in honest & original condition, with the magazine shoe a bit munged up (which we think has been heat affected) & the left grip is a little damaged.
It has honest patina visible on the original bluing & in all seriousness, we’ve seen a lot worse on a gun which turned 90 this year!
We see this as unique wear that adds to the collectability & desirability.
We have no idea of this gun’s history but if it could talk, I’d like to hear it!
The 90 degree safety is correct for 1935 & the S/N dates it to 1935-1936. Pleasingly, it retains the original magazine with the finger grip which are often lost in time although this has been heat affected (it’s melted).
It goes without saying that a Walther PPK is a must have for the serious collector of Pre ’47 hand guns.

In no way do we condone or glorify the Nazi regime which must be remembered for the vile stain on human history that it was.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
