Description

Offered for sale is this original Short Magazine Lee Enfield No. 1 MkIII made in 1917 as can be seen in the photos which has an unusually short serial number.

At some stage this rifle was refurbished at Lithgow Small Arms factory for use in WW2 as indicated by the fact the wood work is marked SLAZ & there are MA markings around the rifle.

W67 is marked on the receiver & nose cap which we believe is the original serial number. We have good information which says the number 123841 was placed later when it was inventoried by the state of NSW, well before it was refurbed at Lithgow & had the magazine cut off removed.

As can be seen in the photos, the rifle in excellent overall condition, as is the bore so this would make an excellent option for Service Rifle comps.

WW1 Enfields are always a popular with collectors & are becoming harder to find so this is would be an excellent addition to your collection or the start on one.

You will know if this is for you so view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
