Description

Offered for sale is this very nice piece of Aussie history in .22LR, presumably converted from a BSA .310 Cadet by Sportco, as indicated by the Sportco markings on the barrel.

Sportco was an Australian manufacturer of firearms based in Adelaide from 1947 until the late 1980’s who also converted older guns into sporters for the Australian market.

The action is that of a Birmingham Small Arms Co. ( B.S.A.) manufactured Martini Cadet rifle, probably originally in .310 calibre. The action body has been refinished & all original markings removed, with the exception of the familiar kangaroo/wallaby insignia stamped on the top of the action in front of the receiver. This marking is exactly that put onto those Commonwealth Martini Cadet rifles sent to New South Wales from the U.K. under contract.

The aperture sight is an original Sportco & we suspect that this may be a custom conversion of the Sportco “Clubman” rifle, itself derived from the BSA Cadet Martini, or simply a later Sportco Model altogether – further customised.

However it come to be this way, the condition is pretty damn good as can be seen in the photos.

These Martini action rifles are a very safe way to teach beginners to shoot as they are a single shot & it is easily monitored for safety.

You will know if this is for you so view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired.

Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an ‘as is’ basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting.
